How to help your business show up in ChatGPT answers

Start with clear business facts, accessible pages, useful evidence, and a repeatable way to check answers. No ranking promises.

A practical starting point.

You cannot instruct ChatGPT to recommend your business to everyone. You can make your public information easier to access and understand, then check a useful set of questions over time.

Think of the following as a practical information-quality plan, not a formula that guarantees an AI mention.

Write the questions your customers ask

Choose questions tied to a real service and place. “Who offers routine dental appointments in this area?” is more useful for a local clinic than a broad question about the best dentist in the world.

Save the exact wording. Record the date, tool, visible sources, and answer. Separate a direct search for your business from a recommendation question that does not mention you. They measure different things.

Make your own pages unambiguous

State what you do, who you serve, where you operate, and how someone can take the next step. Give each important service a page with specific details. Keep opening hours and contact information consistent across the sources you control.

Do not add awards, client logos, reviews, or expertise you cannot support. Useful evidence is better than a long page full of broad claims.

Check whether your site can be accessed

OpenAI’s publisher guidance says sites should allow OAI-SearchBot for inclusion in ChatGPT search summaries and snippets. Its crawler documentation also distinguishes search crawling from other bots.

Ask whoever manages your site to check both robots rules and hosting restrictions. Review those choices alongside your own content and data policies. Allowing access is not a guarantee that a page will be selected, cited, or recommended.

Make a measured change

Fix a confusing service description, an outdated location, or a missing page. Record the change. Recheck your saved questions without claiming that one answer proves a trend.

Answers can vary with the question, model, time, and context. Avoid a report that only shows the best result from repeated attempts. Keep the checks that did not mention you, too.

Get a baseline before a retainer

Our AI visibility audit is a $490 one-off review with an agreed question set and a priority list of changes. Ongoing work is scoped separately. If you prefer to start yourself, explore the Does ChatGPT recommend you? checker, a browser-based self-check rather than a live AI scan.
